Energy Monitor Live-StreamSince going live with our energy usage yesterday, we've been pleased to hear from a lot of our friends, and to see a fair bit of buzz in the press. We hope that this will get word out about the value of monitoring. The more we measure our energy usage, the faster we can reduce it.

To keep you up-to-date, we will keep a tally here of what's happening with Energy Circle's Live-Streaming program.  Check back to this blog post often, and see what's new. We'll put the newest entries at the top to make it easier.

BoingBoing championed our cause enthusiastically this morning, guest blogger Maggie Koerth-Baker writing "beyond being a really cool experiment, does this matter? Hell, yeah." Thanks Maggie.

Treehugger made us blush today by calling the project "similar to Tweet-a-Watt only cooler."

ReadWriteWeb , an influential tech blog, published a post giving readers the nuts and bolts about how to stream their family's energy use.

Triple Pundit gave us a shout-out while bemoaning the increasing commercialization of Earth Day over its 40-year history.

Backpacker Magazine wrote about the project on their "Daily Dirt" blog.

We were blown away by many fine words today on Twitter, our favorite being this:  "Energy Circle Goes Far Beyond Earth Day Cliches with a Simple, Powerful Act http://www.triplepundit.com/2009/04/energy-circle-goes-far-beyond-earth-day-cliches-with-a-simple-powerful-act/ @greensmith @triplepundit "

The environmental blog Lighter Footstep picked us up right after launching our data yesterday, framing the project as a question to readers: Would you live your life online to save energy?

Our friend Paul Smith, who has given us great ink before on Ecopreneurist, wrote a post about the project at EcoSalon.

EcoZebra encouraged readers to "make every day Earth Day by monitoring your energy use."

Jessica Knows, a highly entertaining blogger, published a piece today, too, introducing our "How to Install a TED The Energy Detective" video by saying it "makes it look so easy, my husband could do it."  Hilarious; thanks Jessica.

CleanTechnica 's Derek Markham published a piece this morning about our public energy monitoring project, coming to the conclusion that we hope all of our readers will come to; namely, that:

Efficiency is the most affordable renewable resource we have right now, and until a major breakthrough happens in the price and scalability of solar or wind power, focusing on the awareness and control of energy usage by the consumer may have the greatest impact. The Energy Detective could be the tool that makes it happen.

It's been a great Earth Day at Energy Circle, and we hope it will be a great Earth Week.   We look forward to keeping in touch with the great writers who keep the spirit of this day burning for more than 24 hours. Thanks.
