5 Examples of Effective Home Performance Videos on YouTube.

We're always telling folks in the home energy efficiency community that they should start blogging.

Not only does it help market your business, improve your SEO, and give people in your community a good reason to keep coming back to your website (where they can read about your services and maybe sign up for an energy audit), but it helps spread the gospel of energy efficiency. A blog on your website is a good, credible channel for good information to go out into the world, which helps dispel myths and promotes awareness of the home performance process.

But what should you blog about? Well, that's up to you; but one of the easiest ways to get into the blogging game is to post interesting videos that relate, somehow, to home performance, building science, or energy efficiency.

Here are a few examples of well done home performance videos. Some are funny; some are entertaining; some are just useful with no frills. Check 'em out:

1) Irreconcilable Temperatures

We've written about this series before (good, funny home performance marketing), but always worth another share. Be sure to check out the rest of the videos in the series.

2) Thermal Testing with Microsoft Hohm

Just a basic overview of how thermal imaging allows energy auditors to determine where a house is losing energy.

3) Home Performance with Energy Star

Exciting? Nah. But educational, informative, well done, and free!

4) Seal It Tight

What can we say? (Thanks to Sean Lintow at SLS Construction for pointing this one out).

5) The Interconnected House

Not to toot our own horn, but this one has gotten some good feedback over the years.

If you haven't done it before, embedding a video on your blog is pretty easy. Just view it on YouTube, click the "share" button underneath the video, click the "embed" button, pick a size, and copy the code. Paste it into the HTML view or source view of your blog post, and boom.

By the way, the Energy Circle PRO marketing platform for home energy businesses includes a frequently-updated "ideas library" that's constantly being updated with good, post-worthy videos, infographics, tidbits and other assorted cool stuff, to make blogging even easier for you.

Any other videos we missed? We'd love to hear about them in the comments.
