Will -- I was excited to see that LED's are getting closer, too. Realistically they still have a way to go. Green Inc (nytimes blog) posted a slightly depressing story yesterday about one manufacturer who seems to be making exaggerated claims about light output and longevity ... one of the same bush-league mistakes that got the CFL makers off on the wrong foot. I posted some thoughts and links on my blog (linked above).
Still, LEDs will get worked out, if not today, soon, and hopefully adoption will be wider than it has been with CFLs.
