question, dont we monitor the emonitor directly through our own comuter connection, whether its wired or wirelees? or does it report to a central station that then re-directs it to the individual home owners computer?

Posted by Al Canino on Jan 30, 2012 11:38amAl- there is quite a lot of information on the main eMonitor page, which has a longer explanation of how it all works.
But, in short, the eMonitor device connects to your circuits in the circuit breaker box and to the internet (by way of a wired ethernet connection, or wireless bridge that provides an ethernet port). Once a minute the eMonitor uploads electric usage data from the device to the eMonitor servers where it is stored. The homeowner access that data by logging into the eMonitor service/web portal through their web browser or through mobile apps for iPhone or Andriod. From the portal the homowner can view charts, graphs of data over any period, get recommendation on ways to save power, reconfigure the device, setup automated usage or saftey alers, and can export the data into a CSV file if they want to play with it directly in excel or another spreadsheet program.
