Quick Overview

Dimmable recess lighting - CFL and low mercury. This one's for you, mother earth.

Product Description

This 20-watt PAR38 reflector flood is an ideal replacement for 60 to 75 watt floods. It will dim to a romantic 10% of full light output, and is suitable for use in recessed downlights, even in damp locations in a "base-up" position (in other words, when directed downwards). Designed with Philips amalgam technology for better light stability and temperature flexibility. Lower mercury than comparable CFLs, which means it's easier on the environment.

We Thought You'd Like To Know

Over the course of its life, you can expect this bulb to save you $44 in energy costs, and a bundle in replacement costs. A 20 watt CFL replaces a 75 watt flood and lasts 8,000 hours. (That's 10 times the average flood life). Performance is backed by a six year warranty for residential use. Please Note: This compact fluorescent light should not be used outdoors where it would be exposed to the elements or in poorly ventilated fixtures. Use only with photocells, motion detectors, and electronic timers that are suitable for use with compact fluorescent light bulbs. This lamp contains some mercury. Please recycle thoughtfully.

Totally. Dimmable CFLs, I discovered in the Learn section of this website, aren't compatible with certain dimmers. The Lutron mentioned above I tried along with this bulb and the combination worked beautifully. The Lutron Diva, as the name suggests, is an elegant dimmer, and the PAR38 is an elegant light - none of the problems (buzzing or flickering or whatever) that used to be associated with CFLs. With this one I don't even notice the different (until I get my electric bill). Posted by tim on Jul 27, 2009 11:52am

I love this bulb. Sounds a bit too enthusiastic, I know, but once I paired this with the right dimmer (Lutron Diva), this bulb rocked. Absolutely no delay, and no noise. Don't miss the halogen at all. Posted by SassyMom on Apr 8, 2009 9:17am
