Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) contain mercury. In order to protect ourselves and future generations, it is essential that we dispose of these bulbs responsibly. Some municipalities do not yet have plans in place for appropriate disposal of items containing Mercury. If yours doesn’t, check to see if local retailers do. If they don’t, use this CFL recycling kit from Veolia ES. Send your used bulbs off, and Veolia Es will process the fluorescent lamps properly. One box can usually hold up to 12 (4" long) CFs, 8 ( 5" long), or 5 large CFLs (longer than 5"), though different bulb shapes can increase or decrease volume.
