How big is high performance contracting, really? Peter Troast went to the people who’d know first: the ones who sell the tools that make it possible.
TruTech Tools is the dominant online retailer of the diagnostic gear that lets a contractor measure instead of guess, which gives Bill and Billy Spohn a view of what’s selling and who’s buying that almost nobody else has. In our newest episode of The High Performance Edge podcast, they lay out what that view shows: tool purchases split about 50/50 between companies and individual technicians, but that line keeps moving toward the individual. It's led to what Bill calls a "planting seeds" way to grow their business: one tech picks up a tool, the shop notices, and the approach spreads on its own.
The Spohns are just as open about that growth as they are about TruTech’s own transition from father to son, and just as direct about the payoff: fewer callbacks, and sleeping better at night.
