EC is led by its founder and CEO, Peter Troast. Peter is recognized as one of the country's foremost authorities on marketing for home performance, HVAC and other efficiency related contracting companies. He authors the widely-read Energy Circle blog and is a passionate advocate for the power of the whole house home performance business model. He and his team work with over 350 companies in 49 states grow their business through services like website design and development, search engine optimization, lead generation and strategic content production. He is a popular and high ranking speaker about marketing for contractors at ACI, RESNET, ACCA, BPI and EGIA conferences and events. For 2015, he received the Tony Woods Award for excellence in advancing the home performance industry.
As a long term partner of Energy Circle, David has deep experience in the residential energy sector. He received his BFA from the Maine College of Art, where he is now an adjunct professor. As the founder of Via, a Portland-based marketing communications firm, David has a wealth of experience in developing brands and marketing strategies. He is passionate about energy efficiency and how he can deploy his love of information design to achieve exceptional adult learning experiences.
Abby joined the Energy Circle team in August 2018 as a Digital Marketing Account Manager, working primarily with with solar companies across the US but also in the home performance sector. For the last ten years, Abby was living and working abroad in London, UK. Coming from both an agency and not-for-profit background, she specializes in strategic and creative communications and marketing with experience across the energy, environment and creative industries sectors (combining her loves of all things green and art). Abby has a master's degree from the London School of Economics in public policy and applies this policy knowledge to help companies be successful in a policy-driven environment. Although growing up in Virginia, Abby is a New Englander at heart. She attended the University of Vermont and ultimately made the big move back across the pond to be closer to family in Vermont and New Hampshire as well as to dust off the skis and snowboard for her first real Maine winter. Outside of the office, you'll find Abby out on a road trip adventure with her camera, exploring the outdoors. Also, as a recent transplant to Bon Appetit's 2018 Restaurant City of the Year, she's mapped out her Portland restaurant foodie wishlist from food trucks to Eventide's brown butter lobster roll.
Ranganayaki joined Energy Circle as a Lead Developer working remotely from Stamford, CT. With a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a passion for coding, she set out to explore open source technologies. She has worked as a freelancer in different roles that cover the entire software development life cycle. Her experience on a wide range of projects across various domains for non-profits, start-ups and e-commerce applications, helps her adapt to new challenges easily. She constantly tries to improve things and doesn't hesitate to break status quo. She is very interested in the latest technologies / features and looks out for ways to leverage those to the benefits of the firm / clients. In her personal time, you can find her experimenting new recipes and relaxing with family and friends.
After nearly ten years living and working in upstate New York, Emily returned to Maine to spend more time with her family and to contribute to the stewardship of her beloved, adopted home state. Graduating from Cornell University with her Master's degree in 2016, Emily had the good fortune of learning from some of the finest minds in marketing research and development. With experience in a variety of marketing roles, she is fascinated by the intersections of data and communication in digital marketing, especially in regard to compelling content and storytelling used to hone brand differentiation and value. She is passionate about facilitating dynamic and collaborative marketing partnerships, and attributes her fondness for anticipating needs to her background in the hospitality industry. Emily loves exploring the restaurant scene in Maine and beyond, as well as traveling to explore sites culinary and otherwise. She enjoys reading, writing, spending time with friends and family. She takes frequent advantage of the great live music scene in Portland, where she can be found paying homage to her farming roots by collecting as many pets as possible.
Josh joined Energy Circle in 2019 as the Director of Marketing Operations, bringing more than 10 years of experience in digital marketing to the team. He is a passionate marketer who has worked across multiple industries and sectors with brands ranging from national to local and regional. Josh prides himself on breaking down the barriers and stigma surrounding digital marketing and technology and creating powerful, effective, and easily understood solutions with a hyper-focus on ROI. He is an expert on the foundations of marketing and prides himself on keeping a tight pulse on the bleeding edge and innovative digital marketing solutions on the horizon. Josh is a lifelong musician and avid technology enthusiast, and he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, three children, and dogs.
Kyle joined the Energy Circle team in July 2020. He is a graduate from Virginia Tech, and before starting at Energy Circle, Kyle worked as a business development representative and digital project manager for several years. He combines strong communications skills with analytical and strategic thinking. Kyle is data-driven in everything that he does, and brings creative problem-solving skills to the Energy Circle team. In his free time, you can find Kyle hiking, reading about history, watching Virginia Tech football, fishing or outside with his dog Jack!
After completing her degree in Colorado at CU Boulder, Cara began her professional career at a local publishing company. This is where Cara discovered her love for all things marketing and client relations. Through various roles in her career, from strategic content management for a travel site to acting as a marketing manager for stand-alone companies, Cara has a well-diversified background in the marketing industry that she is excited to bring to Energy Circle. In 2018 Cara packed up her life in the Rockies and moved back East to start a new adventure closer to family and her native state of Vermont. She, her beer brewing fiance, and their pup (who makes all big decisions for the family) settled on Portland as the perfect place to put down roots and build into their new home. In her free time, Cara can be found practicing yoga, re-learning how to ski the East, lounging at the beach or out exploring one of the many beautiful trails in Southern Maine with her Vizsla named Tractor.
Brian is a Maine native who currently resides in Denver, CO. Graduating with an MBA, Brian also played 4 years of collegiate soccer at Husson University. Pursuing his passion for soccer, Brian continued to coach at Husson for 5 seasons before moving to Denver to coach in the Colorado Rapids Goalkeeper Academy. If he's not coaching, playing or watching his favorite team (Manchester City), you can find Brian outdoors in the mountains, hiking or snowboarding. After some time in banking, Brian entered the digital marketing world at a local agency in Bangor, Maine as a digital marketing consultant. Here he fell in love with the intricacies of digital marketing beyond his experience in video production and editing. Before Energy Circle, Brian put his marketing expertise to work in multiple opportunities with early stage SaaS startups.
Raised in Northeast Ohio, Jacquelyn discovered her passion for digital marketing while studying at Baldwin Wallace University. She looked to launch her career after graduation outside of Ohio, and having spent many summers at Frye Island, Jacquelyn naturally landed in Portland, ME. Jacquelyn is thrilled with all the new opportunities Portland has to offer. She spends her time outside the office trying new restaurants, coffee shops and breweries, hiking mountain trails, visiting art exhibits, and honing her photography skills.
Cory joined the Energy Circle team in July 2019. His path to the better building sector included several years as a reporter for a weekly small town newspaper, and nearly a decade as an editor with a trade book publisher based in New York City. He owns too many pairs of sneakers, and, when not in the EC office, is usually reading, cooking, or mowing his lawn. Cory and his wife live a leisurely drive outside of Portland, where they own an old farmhouse whose energy efficiency is “a work in progress.”
Jake is a recent transplant to Maine, moving all the way from Boise, Idaho. A lifelong musician, Jake studied Guitar Performance at Boise State University before traveling as a professional touring guitarist. Along his travels Jake fell in love with Portland, as well as the many facets of content creation. Jake's introduction into the marketing world was with video production, something he still works on in addition to writing content for Energy Circle. He lives in Portland with his wife (a native Mainer) and collie-lab mix (who frequents the office), and still plays music regularly.
Emily joined the Energy Circle team at the end of 2020 as a Content Writer. A New England native, she grew up in Massachusetts before moving to Florida where she graduated from the University of Tampa with a degree in English. She then entered the digital marketing world as a copywriter and has never left. After living and working in Florida for several years, Emily spent six months traveling through Southeast Asia before returning to New England, where she landed in Portland and at Energy Circle. When she's not writing about the better building sector, Emily can be found outside, exploring the mountains of Maine after spending so many years in the endless flatland that is Florida. She also loves to cook and eat and is always on the hunt for new vegetarian restaurants to try.
Born and raised in Maine, Shane grew up with a love for nature. An avid hiker, he has seen the tops of many mountains in the Northeast with his family and friends. It was this love for the environment that prompted Shane to shift away from a traditional reporting career after graduating from the University of Maine with a journalism degree, and into an environmentally-conscious marketing world. At Energy Circle, Shane is responsible for marketing production, leading our online support center (support circle) and assisting in in-house marketing team projects. When he’s not working, Shane is an avid sports fan (football, baseball, basketball and hockey), writer (creative works) and movie geek.
Theo joined the Energy Circle Team in April 2018 as a Web Production Associate. A current student at the University of Southern Maine, he splits his time between web production and the worlkoad of a business major. A native Mainer (Born in Portland, raised in Freeport), he feels strongly about protecting the natural resources that make Maine "the greatest place to live in the US, period" so that future generations get a chance to experience what it means to truly be a Mainer. When he isn't at the offce, he can be found doing schoolwork, behind the wheel on his way to explore one of Maine's many hidden gems, or finding a way to make his collegues feel old....er
Cassandra has joined Energy Circle as a Paid Search Strategist. She has a bachelor's degree in Political Science. She has over 10 years experience in client services including banking, insurance and PPC. She developed her PPC knowledge in Boston while working with a large agency that specialized in PPC optimization. While working in Boston she optimized PPC accounts for a variety of industries from all around the world. When she is not managing PPC, she loves spending time with her partner, her dog Winston and her cat Yeezy. She also enjoys playing fantasy football and rooting for her favorite team, the New England Patriots.
Dora joined Energy Circle's marketing team in 2018, as a Paid Search Strategist. She has worked in the digital marketing industry for over a decade, and has specifically focused on paid search strategy and creative management of clients large and small since 2011. Dora moved to Maine that same year, having visited Portland in the depths of winter, only to fall in love and make it her home. Since then, she's had the great pleasure of working alongside some of Maine's best and brightest, as well as taking in the restaurant scene, finding the best local bookstores, and adopting a small menagerie of animals.
Emma joined Energy Circle as a Marketing Production Associate in summer 2021. A self-proclaimed "Yankee Cowgirl", Emma just recently relocated from Boston/Austin to Portland, Maine. After receiving her BFA in printmaking from UMASS Amherst, Emma worked professionally in the public art sphere for a couple of years before beginning her career in marketing. In Austin, Emma worked at a public relations firm managing digital marketing for a number of hospitality concepts. Outside of the office, you can find Emma walking her sweet pup Ladybird, working on her art and exploring Portland's food spots and dive bars.
Connor Rose received her degree in Sports Management from UMass Amherst and began her career by moving to New York and working in the professional sports industry. Since then Connor has launched her marketing career by honing in on her creativity, relationship building, and problem solving skills throughout various industries and agency settings in New York, Massachusetts, and now Maine. Connor moved to Portland after years of stopping through on her way to the mountains and is excited to be a part of the Energy Circle team, where she can gear her range of marketing skills towards her passion in sustainability and the better building sector. Connor is a collector of hobbies and outside of work she can be found exploring new places, whipping up treats, or working on her latest DIY project.
Ade joined the Energy Circle team in March 2021. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, where he gained his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, it only took one marketing job to realize his true love is digital marketing. He uses his passion for solving complex math equations to make data-driven marketing decisions. At Energy Circle, Ade is a PPC Strategist, helping clients achieve their marketing goals with Google and Bing Ads. He is also a member of the US Air Force Reserves. During his spare time, Ade loves watching and playing soccer, playing Scrabble, or bowling with his friends.
Caylin joined Energy Circle as an Associate Digital Marketing Account Manager in 2021, shortly after moving to Maine from Austin, TX. In Austin, Caylin was working as a Social Media Manger, where she got her foot in the door as a marketing professional. While in Austin, she also graduated from yoga teacher training and fell in love with the West Texas desert. Before her trek to Austin, Caylin was working in the renewable energy industry as a recruiter for a solar company based out of Boston, MA. After moving from Boston to Austin, Caylin decided to settle down in her favorite city of Portland, Maine where she can be close to her family and the coast. When she's not at Energy Circle, you can find her enjoying the outdoors, practicing yoga, or eagerly awaiting the return of live music.
Erica joined the Energy Circle team as a Senior Digital Marketing Strategist in 2021. A Pennsylvania native, she graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Communication Science. After college she spent ten years living in Philadelphia working in the energy efficiency sector as an account manager. Erica managed new construction and retrofit projects that provided energy efficiency cost savings to her clients while simultaneously securing rebates and incentives from state and federal programs to provide the best possible return on capital expenditures. Erica moved to Portland, Maine in 2010. Most recently she worked for a company that provided sales training workshops focused on energy efficiency sales, marketing and lead generation. When she's not managing digital marketing accounts, Erica can be found outside, exploring the oceans, lakes, and mountains of Maine with her husband and two boys.
Katie joined the Energy Circle team as a Marketing Production Associate in 2021. After spending a few years in the non-profit and progressive political organizing realm(s), she was ready to embark on a new journey in digital marketing and found Energy Circle to be a wonderful fit. Katie graduated from St. Lawrence University in 2018 and relocated to Portland two weeks after; she's since fallen in love with the small city, despite her disdain for lobster. When she isn't working, she can most often be found perusing the stacks of local bookstores or atop one of the White Mountains.
Laura joined the Energy Circle team in 2021 as a Paid Search Strategist. Having worked in digital marketing for over 12 years in various roles and in various industries she discovered her true talent lies within the paid search realm. After living in Venice Beach, California for the last 13 years, she recently relocated to Maine to be closer to family. When she's not digging into data, Laura enjoys board games, experimenting with new recipes, discovering new restaurants, and enjoying all the outdoor activities New England has to offer.
Lily joined Energy Circle in 2021 as a Content Writer. Her background in client strategy and communications as well as growing up in a family of home-improvement enthusiasts has provided a solid foundation for a career supporting the better building sector. Lily has always felt most at home when writing, so bringing that passion to the dedicated and incredibly knowledgeable Energy Circle team has been a dream come true.
A lifelong "Mainah," Lily was born and raised in the greater Portland area, leaving only briefly to earn her bachelor's in Communications at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL. When not writing, Lily can be found spending time with her cats, Munchkin and Paddy, exploring Maine's many lighthouses, and enjoying Portland's food and comedy scenes with friends and family.
