He is a popular and high ranking speaker about marketing for contractors at ACI, RESNET, ACCA, BPI and EGIA conferences and events. For 2015, he received the Tony Woods Award for excellence in advancing the home performance industry.
As a long term partner of Energy Circle, David has deep experience in the residential energy sector. He received his BFA from the Maine College of Art, where he is now an adjunct professor. As the founder of Via, a Portland-based marketing communications firm, David has a wealth of experience in developing brands and marketing strategies. He is passionate about energy efficiency and how he can deploy his love of information design to achieve exceptional adult learning experiences.
Shawn joined Energy Circle in 2018 as the Director of Digital Strategy. She is exceedingly interested in the role that technology plays in everyday life, which gives her a unique perspective when approaching marketing challenges, and valuable insight into the needs and expectations of users (AKA “consumers”). While she began her career in the photographic industry, she quickly moved from the creative side of the digital art world to the strategic side. In her 10 years as a digital marketer, she has worked on websites, software applications, and digital marketing projects for local and national brands including Dunkin Donuts, the ACLU, Maine Medical Partners, CLYNK, The Mitchell Institute, and Hood. Her focus has been in ushering digital and technical projects from the conception phase through discovery, strategy, design, development, deployment and finally results review and optimization. She is constantly striving to discover new and innovative ways to leverage digital solutions to solve problems and elevate brands, and is passionate about delivering intuitive user experiences that make everyday life more informative, more exciting, or just plain easier!
Bill builds creative collaboration across the marketing operations spectrum. For in-house corporate teams, Bill has managed talent, planning, and brand planning. For agency teams, he's been the backbone, figuring out how to get crazy ideas delivered, and keeping everything organized and productive. Favorite clients: RSN, Ideal Energy, Maine Medical Center, Sylvania, Raytheon, Rolling Stone, Hannaford. Digital campaigns, broadcast production, partner sourcing, and systems implementation are all in his wheelhouse. He's empathetic, curious, a quick study, and down-to-Earth.
Josh joined Energy Circle in 2019 as the Director of Marketing Operations, bringing more than 10 years of experience in digital marketing to the team. He is a passionate marketer who has worked across multiple industries and sectors with brands ranging from national to local and regional. Josh prides himself on breaking down the barriers and stigma surrounding digital marketing and technology and creating powerful, effective, and easily understood solutions with a hyper-focus on ROI. He is an expert on the foundations of marketing and prides himself on keeping a tight pulse on the bleeding edge and innovative digital marketing solutions on the horizon. Josh is a lifelong musician and avid technology enthusiast, and he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, three children, and dogs.
As part of Energy Circle's marketing team, Shannon is able to combine her passion for healthy buildings with her background in design and marketing. She developed a commitment to environmental stewardship growing up in the woods and shores of Maine. This commitment was further strengthened during her undergraduate education at College of the Atlantic. She went on to study architecture and landscape architecture, receiving her master's in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon. Shannon has an extensive background in green building, building performance, design and marketing. Before working at Energy Circle, she helped brand and market a small wellness startup to a multi-million dollar success. She combines her strength in building client relationships with her creativity to create successful and innovative marketing campaigns.
Ranganayaki joined Energy Circle as a Lead Developer working remotely from Stamford, CT. With a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a passion for coding, she set out to explore open source technologies. She has worked as a freelancer in different roles that cover the entire software development life cycle. Her experience on a wide range of projects across various domains for non-profits, start-ups and e-commerce applications, helps her adapt to new challenges easily. She constantly tries to improve things and doesn't hesitate to break status quo. She is very interested in the latest technologies / features and looks out for ways to leverage those to the benefits of the firm / clients. In her personal time, you can find her experimenting new recipes and relaxing with family and friends.
After nearly ten years living and working in upstate New York, Emily returned to Maine to spend more time with her family and to contribute to the stewardship of her beloved, adopted home state. Graduating from Cornell University with her Master's degree in 2016, Emily had the good fortune of learning from some of the finest minds in marketing research and development. With experience in a variety of marketing roles, she is fascinated by the intersections of data and communication in digital marketing, especially in regard to compelling content and storytelling used to hone brand differentiation and value. She is passionate about facilitating dynamic and collaborative marketing partnerships, and attributes her fondness for anticipating needs to her background in the hospitality industry. Emily loves exploring the restaurant scene in Maine and beyond, as well as traveling to explore sites culinary and otherwise. She enjoys reading, writing, spending time with friends and family. She takes frequent advantage of the great live music scene in Portland, where she can be found paying homage to her farming roots by collecting as many pets as possible.
After completing her degree in Colorado at CU Boulder, Cara began her professional career at a local publishing company. This is where Cara discovered her love for all things marketing and client relations. Through various roles in her career, from strategic content management for a travel site to acting as a marketing manager for stand-alone companies, Cara has a well-diversified background in the marketing industry that she is excited to bring to Energy Circle. In 2018 Cara packed up her life in the Rockies and moved back East to start a new adventure closer to family and her native state of Vermont. She, her beer brewing fiance, and their pup (who makes all big decisions for the family) settled on Portland as the perfect place to put down roots and build into their new home. In her free time, Cara can be found practicing yoga, re-learning how to ski the East, lounging at the beach or out exploring one of the many beautiful trails in Southern Maine with her Vizsla named Tractor.
Ian comes to Energy Circle with an educational background in sustainable architecture, community & regional planning, and economics. Within his B.S. in Environmental Design from UMass-Amherst he focused on passive solar design and the adaptive re-use of older industrial and institutional building stock. To go along with extensive amounts of customer service, Ian has also spent several years in the building trades. This experience ranges from leading crews of volunteers for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to the mind-numbing minutia of installing crown molding as a finish carpenter on Nantucket Island. For Habitat LA the 30 homes were certified either LEED Gold or Silver and Ian had a part in the appointment of a number of water and energy efficient features, including the mounting of PV systems on each unit. Ian is deeply passionate about the local food movement, loves to garden, has run a nearby school garden program, loves to cook, and has an inordinate disdain for dull kitchen knives.
Rob brings years of digital marketing experience from multiple industries to Energy Circle. He studied at the University of Southern Maine, graduating with majors in communications and psychology, giving him a solid foundation for his creative and analytical mindset to problem solving. In his most recent role as a marketing and communications manager, he developed comprehensive marketing plans to grow engagement and drive conversions. Working as a freelance digital marketer, Rob was exposed to different industries, developing an understanding that each client has their own set of unique challenges. In a former life, he worked in the local television news industry as an executive producer, where he recognized the early benefits of social media and developed a strategy to drive his Portland, Maine station to more followers and engagement than sister stations in much larger cities. Rob has a strong interest in better building practices and is excited to put his skills to work to help clients. As the owner of several properties, including a 100-year old multi-unit rental, Rob has learned a lot about energy efficiency and home performance. As a husband and father of a young daughter, Rob spends much of his free time chasing his toddler around. He enjoys biking, board games, and discovering new "foodie" restaurants with his wife and friends.
Abby joined the Energy Circle team in August 2018 as a Digital Marketing Account Manager, working primarily with with solar companies across the US but also in the home performance sector. For the last ten years, Abby was living and working abroad in London, UK. Coming from both an agency and not-for-profit background, she specializes in strategic and creative communications and marketing with experience across the energy, environment and creative industries sectors (combining her loves of all things green and art). Abby has a master's degree from the London School of Economics in public policy and applies this policy knowledge to help companies be successful in a policy-driven environment. Although growing up in Virginia, Abby is a New Englander at heart. She attended the University of Vermont and ultimately made the big move back across the pond to be closer to family in Vermont and New Hampshire as well as to dust off the skis and snowboard for her first real Maine winter. Outside of the office, you'll find Abby out on a road trip adventure with her camera, exploring the outdoors. Also, as a recent transplant to Bon Appetit's 2018 Restaurant City of the Year, she's mapped out her Portland restaurant foodie wishlist from food trucks to Eventide's brown butter lobster roll.
Cory joined the Energy Circle team in July 2019. His path to the better building sector included several years as a reporter for a weekly small town newspaper, and nearly a decade as an editor with a trade book publisher based in New York City. He owns too many pairs of sneakers, and, when not in the EC office, is usually reading, cooking, or mowing his lawn. Cory and his wife live a leisurely drive outside of Portland, where they own an old farmhouse whose energy efficiency is “a work in progress.”
Jake is a recent transplant to Maine, moving all the way from Boise, Idaho. A lifelong musician, Jake studied Guitar Performance at Boise State University before traveling as a professional touring guitarist. Along his travels Jake fell in love with Portland, as well as the many facets of content creation. Jake's introduction into the marketing world was with video production, something he still works on in addition to writing content for Energy Circle. He lives in Portland with his wife (a native Mainer) and collie-lab mix (who frequents the office), and still plays music regularly.
Born and raised in Maine, Shane grew up with a love for nature. An avid hiker, he has seen the tops of many mountains in the Northeast with his family and friends. It was this love for the environment that prompted Shane to shift away from a traditional reporting career after graduating from the University of Maine with a journalism degree, and into an environmentally-conscious marketing world. At Energy Circle, Shane is responsible for marketing production, leading our online support center (support circle) and assisting in in-house marketing team projects. When he’s not working, Shane is an avid sports fan (football, baseball, basketball and hockey), writer (creative works) and movie geek.
Tripti joined Energy Circle LLC team as a Paid Search Strategist, working remotely from San Diego, CA. She has a Bachelor's in Engineering and MBA (Marketing) degree. After her grad school, she worked on multiple projects based on Digital Marketing (PPC, SEO and Google Analytics). She developed her keen interest for building and optimizing Pay Per Click campaigns and showing improved performance metrics. She has experience working with vast range of businesses, be it E-Commerce or Marketing Agencies. She is a hard worker, quick learner and has always maintained a positive attitude towards her work. When she is not working, she loves to spend time with her 4 year old daughter and likes to work out or go hiking with her friends.
Cassandra has joined Energy Circle as a Paid Search Strategist. She has a bachelor's degree in Political Science. She has over 10 years experience in client services including banking, insurance and PPC. She developed her PPC knowledge in Boston while working with a large agency that specialized in PPC optimization. While working in Boston she optimized PPC accounts for a variety of industries from all around the world. When she is not managing PPC, she loves spending time with her partner, her dog Winston and her cat Yeezy. She also enjoys playing fantasy football and rooting for her favorite team, the New England Patriots.
Dora joined Energy Circle's marketing team in 2018, as a Paid Search Strategist. She has worked in the digital marketing industry for over a decade, and has specifically focused on paid search strategy and creative management of clients large and small since 2011. Dora moved to Maine that same year, having visited Portland in the depths of winter, only to fall in love and make it her home. Since then, she's had the great pleasure of working alongside some of Maine's best and brightest, as well as taking in the restaurant scene, finding the best local bookstores, and adopting a small menagerie of animals.
Joining the Energy Circle team in November of 2019, Deirdre brings experience with in-house marketing from the non-profit world to her role as a Digital Marketing Account Manager. A graduate of Stonehill College in Massachusetts with degrees in English and Psychology, Deirdre pairs her clear and effective communication skills with a drive to see the better building sector grow and thrive in the digital age. In her free time, Deirdre can be found cooking or baking and of course eating whatever she makes!
Raised in Northeast Ohio, Jacquelyn discovered her passion for digital marketing while studying at Baldwin Wallace University. She looked to launch her career after graduation outside of Ohio, and having spent many summers at Frye Island, Jacquelyn naturally landed in Portland, ME. Jacquelyn is thrilled with all the new opportunities Portland has to offer. She spends her time outside the office trying new restaurants, coffee shops and breweries, hiking mountain trails, visiting art exhibits, and honing her photography skills.
Theo joined the Energy Circle Team in April 2018 as a Web Production Associate. A current student at the University of Southern Maine, he splits his time between web production and the worlkoad of a business major. A native Mainer (Born in Portland, raised in Freeport), he feels strongly about protecting the natural resources that make Maine "the greatest place to live in the US, period" so that future generations get a chance to experience what it means to truly be a Mainer. When he isn't at the offce, he can be found doing schoolwork, behind the wheel on his way to explore one of Maine's many hidden gems, or finding a way to make his collegues feel old....er
