Ian comes to Energy Circle with an educational background in sustainable architecture, community & regional planning, and economics. Within his B.S. in Environmental Design from UMass-Amherst he focused on passive solar design and the adaptive re-use of older industrial and institutional building stock. To go along with extensive amounts of customer service, Ian has also spent several years in the building trades. This experience ranges from leading crews of volunteers for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to the mind-numbing minutia of installing crown molding as a finish carpenter on Nantucket Island. For Habitat LA the 30 homes were certified either LEED Gold or Silver and Ian had a part in the appointment of a number of water and energy efficient features, including the mounting of PV systems on each unit. Ian is deeply passionate about the local food movement, loves to garden, has run a nearby school garden program, loves to cook, and has an inordinate disdain for dull kitchen knives.
