He is a popular and high ranking speaker about marketing for contractors at ACI, RESNET, ACCA, BPI and EGIA conferences and events. For 2015, he received the Tony Woods Award for excellence in advancing the home performance industry.
As a long term partner of Energy Circle, David has deep experience in the residential energy sector. He received his BFA from the Maine College of Art, where he is now an adjunct professor. As the founder of Via, a Portland-based marketing communications firm, David has a wealth of experience in developing brands and marketing strategies. He is passionate about energy efficiency and how he can deploy his love of information design to achieve exceptional adult learning experiences.
As EC's COO, Nate works to build a team of digital marketers who provide smart, measurable, performance-driven solutions for national clients. He began his career as a media planner in NYC during an exciting time for digital. Later, as a integrated marketing manager at Complex Media, Nate produced campaigns with an emphasis on custom co-branded video content for clients such as Converse, Coca-Cola, Green Label, Norelco, etc.
After 6 years in New York, Nate made the transition back to his home state of Maine. Prior to joining the Energy Circle team, he spent 2 years working as a senior account manager for a web design shop, where he lead projects for a wide range of local clients.
Nate is a novice gardener, full-time husband/dad, and part-time rock climber. He also enjoys consuming too much coffee and curating Spotify playlists (simultaneously).
Dana Pillsbury, Energy Circle’s director of search engine marketing, has spent more than eight years building and managing PPC strategies for a wide range of businesses and organizations of all sizes, including DicksSportingGoods.com, SportsChalet.com, InMobi.com and many more. Dana is a Google Certified Partner and AdCenter Accredited Pro.
A Maine native, Dana spent his college years studying business administration at Messiah College in Pennsylvania before returning to his home state. He currently resides with his family in a 200-year-old farmhouse in Western Maine, where he spends his free time gardening, skiing, snowmobiling, landscaping, gardening, drumming and raising chickens.
As part of Energy Circle's marketing team, Shannon is able to combine her passion for healthy buildings with her background in design and marketing. She developed a commitment to environmental stewardship growing up in the woods and shores of Maine. This commitment was further strengthened during her undergraduate education at College of the Atlantic. She went on to study architecture and landscape architecture, receiving her master's in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon.
Shannon has an extensive background in green building, building performance, design and marketing. Before working at Energy Circle, she helped brand and market a small wellness startup to a multi-million dollar success. She combines her strength in building client relationships with her creativity to create successful and innovative marketing campaigns.
Shawn joined Energy Circle in 2018 as the Director of Digital Strategy. She is exceedingly interested in the role that technology plays in everyday life, which gives her a unique perspective when approaching marketing challenges, and valuable insight into the needs and expectations of users (AKA “consumers”).
While she began her career in the photographic industry, she quickly moved from the creative side of the digital art world to the strategic side. In her 10 years as a digital marketer, she has worked on websites, software applications, and digital marketing projects for local and national brands including Dunkin Donuts, the ACLU, Maine Medical Partners, CLYNK, The Mitchell Institute, and Hood. Her focus has been in ushering digital and technical projects from the conception phase through discovery, strategy, design, development, deployment and finally results review and optimization.
She is constantly striving to discover new and innovative ways to leverage digital solutions to solve problems and elevate brands, and is passionate about delivering intuitive user experiences that make everyday life more informative, more exciting, or just plain easier!
Born in New Hampshire but raised in Gorham, Maine, Dan spent his childhood either playing sports or tinkering with computers (both physically and virtually). After high school, he attended the Templeton Honors College at Eastern University. Dan completed his degree at the University of Southern Maine, where he focused on marketing and business administration. Dan also worked as a professional golf caddie, so he knows all about pacing off yardages, raking bunkers, reading greens and applying tremendous amounts of sunscreen.
Dan has extensive experience in developing and implementing various marketing campaigns, both digital and print, for companies across the nation. He also has several years of customer service experience.
When he's not at work, you can usually find Dan behind the grill, on the lake, roaming local golf courses or watching the show he's secretly addicted to, Chopped.
Chris joined Energy Circle LLC as a Client Solutions Specialist in 2018. Prior to EC, he worked as a commercial video producer and a sales consultant in the Work and Travel industry. He has always had a passion for advertising/marketing and currently serves on the Board of the Ad Club of Maine, where he enjoys connecting with the many creative talents of Maine. Chris graduated from Connecticut College with a degree in theater, a hobby he still pursues in his spare time.
Chris has always been a real estate enthusiast and enjoys moving houses with his family every couple of years. His experience living in numerous apartments and homes, 14 to be exact, has given him much appreciation for the comforts of the Building Performance Industry.
Chris enjoys landscaping, running, boot camp and adventuring with his family throughout Maine and the world.
Chris Williams is responsible for leading Energy Circle's new solar team. He's responsible for working with residential solar contractors to figure out how to generate high quality, low cost leads using the best digital marketing strategies on the planet.
Chris is an advisor of Ground Energy Support, was previously a co-founder of Faze1 and the Chief Marketing Officer at HeatSpring. In 2014, Chris worked with an industry coalition to successfully lobby the Massachusetts legislature to pass S.2214 that created the first performance based renewable thermal incentives in the United States.
Born and raised in Cape Elizabeth, ME, Will is a native Mainer. After graduating from Colorado State University with a communication studies major and an information science and technology minor, he moved back to Maine to begin his career in digital marketing. Will supports the busy sales team in a variety of ways. He brings a unique perspective to the Energy Circle team as both a digital marketer and a construction-savvy individual: He's the son of a general contractor and grew up in the construction world. From picking up jobsite trash to framing and performing finish carpentry, Will has experienced most aspects of new home/remodel construction projects. He enjoys continuing to learn about new energy ideas for the building industry.
When not at work, Will can most likely be found listening to bluegrass/jam music, fly fishing or skiing down the slopes of Sugarloaf Mountain. As a former ski instructor and whitewater raft guide, nature is Will’s second calling.
Ian comes to Energy Circle with an educational background in sustainable architecture, community & regional planning, and economics. Within his B.S. in Environmental Design from UMass-Amherst he focused on passive solar design and the adaptive re-use of older industrial and institutional building stock.
To go along with extensive amounts of customer service, Ian has also spent several years in the building trades. This experience ranges from leading crews of volunteers for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to the mind-numbing minutia of installing crown molding as a finish carpenter on Nantucket Island. For Habitat LA the 30 homes were certified either LEED Gold or Silver and Ian had a part in the appointment of a number of water and energy efficient features, including the mounting of PV systems on each unit.
Ian is deeply passionate about the local food movement, loves to garden, has run a nearby school garden program, loves to cook, and has an inordinate disdain for dull kitchen knives.
Rob brings years of digital marketing experience from multiple industries to Energy Circle. He studied at the University of Southern Maine, graduating with majors in communications and psychology, giving him a solid foundation for his creative and analytical mindset to problem solving. In his most recent role as a marketing and communications manager, he developed comprehensive marketing plans to grow engagement and drive conversions. Working as a freelance digital marketer, Rob was exposed to different industries, developing an understanding that each client has their own set of unique challenges. In a former life, he worked in the local television news industry as an executive producer, where he recognized the early benefits of social media and developed a strategy to drive his Portland, Maine station to more followers and engagement than sister stations in much larger cities.
Rob has a strong interest in better building practices and is excited to put his skills to work to help clients. As the owner of several properties, including a 100-year old multi-unit rental, Rob has learned a lot about energy efficiency and home performance. As a husband and father of a young daughter, Rob spends much of his free time chasing his toddler around. He enjoys biking, board games, and discovering new “foodie” restaurants with his wife and friends.
After nearly ten years living and working in upstate New York, Emily returned to Maine to spend more time with her family and to contribute to the stewardship of her beloved, adopted home state. Graduating from Cornell University with her Master’s degree in 2016, Emily had the good fortune of learning from some of the finest minds in marketing research and development. WIth experience in a variety of marketing roles, she is fascinated by the intersections of data and communication in digital marketing, especially in regard to compelling content and social media. She is passionate about facilitating dynamic and collaborative client relationships, and attributes her fondness to anticipation of needs to her early background in hospitality.
Emily loves exploring the restaurant and food scene near and far. She enjoys reading and writing, taking advantage of the great live music scene in Portland, and paying homage to her farm girl roots by collecting as many pets as possible.
Maurine is a Virginia native and attended school at the University of Virginia. As a student with many interests, she ultimately received a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics and American studies, with a minor in French language and literature. After her time at U.Va., she went on to complete a program in graphic design with concentrations in web design and photography.
After completing her education, Maurine headed out to the ‘Silicon Slopes’ of Utah to start her career. She found her niche working as a content writer at an online marketing firm, where she created online content for companies in just about every industry you can name. Now, after a cross-country move, she puts her writing and content strategy skills to the test as a Digital Content Manager here at Energy Circle.
When she’s not busy at work, Maurine spends her time developing creative cake recipes, practicing her hand at photography, and running her baking-turned-lifestyle blog. She lives in southern Maine with her husband, Nate.
Jake is a recent transplant to Maine, moving all the way from Boise, Idaho. A lifelong musician, Jake studied Guitar Performance at Boise State University before traveling as a professional touring guitarist. Along his travels Jake fell in love with Portland, as well as the many facets of content creation.
Jake’s introduction into the marketing world was with video production, something he still works on in addition to writing content for Energy Circle. He lives in Portland with his wife (a native Mainer) and collie-lab mix (who frequents the office), and still plays music regularly.
Conrad graduated from Endicott College in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in business management and a minor in creative writing. His prior positions include tax staff associate at J.H. Birkett CPA, PA, commercial lines assistant at Norton Insurance and an internship with Energy Circle in the fall of 2013.
He is a native of Chebeague Island, ME, and has also worked seasonally as a lobsterman.
Born and raised in Maine, Shane grew up with a love for nature. An avid hiker, he has seen the tops of many mountains in the Northeast with his family and friends. It was this love for the environment that prompted Shane to shift away from a traditional reporting career after graduating from the University of Maine with a journalism degree, and into an environmentally-conscious marketing world. At Energy Circle, Shane is responsible for marketing production, leading our online support center (support circle) and assisting in in-house marketing team projects. When he’s not working, Shane is an avid sports fan (football, baseball, basketball and hockey), writer (creative works) and movie geek.
Born in Florida, Priscilla always knew she was a Northeaster at heart. She moved to Upstate New York in 2012 where she went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and earned her B.S. in Cognitive Science and Psychology, minoring in Marketing and her M.S. in Management, Marketing - New Product Development. In 2017, she moved to Maine.
Having parents who immigrated from Cuba and having lived in Florida for most her life, she has first hand experience on how climate change can strengthen natural disasters and the effect it has on the community. Priscilla is dedicated in educating the public by empowering businesses that provide services to foster a greener world.
When Priscilla isn’t working, she enjoys trying new foods and craft beers. She spends most of her time cuddling her cat Addie, playing video games, or singing with her ukulele.
Jason has spent the last several years building and managing paid search accounts for a diverse range of businesses through Adwords and Bing. A true optimization nerd, he loves reviewing PPC (pay per click) data to find unique ways to improve accounts. Jason also enjoys interpreting that data and updating his clients on PPC victories through weekly emails and detailed monthly reports.
Jason has lived in NY, Florida and Texas before making Maine home. He currently resides with his family in a small cottage in Western Maine, where they enjoy small house living and looking for new ways to simplify and become more energy efficient. Jason enjoys spending his free time hiking, camping, gardening, taking long road trips and playing guitar.
Matt joined the ranks of Energy Circle's PPC Strategists in 2017. He spent the previous 4+ years managing digital marketing campaigns for clients in multiple industries for another Maine agency. Demystifying getting found online for his clients, most specifically PPC, is something he's always found rewarding. As a dedicated PPC he gets to focus on making data based decisions that will positively impact his clients bottom line. And use lots of spreadsheets... which he seems to genuinely enjoy.
After years biking and snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains, Matt received his marketing degree from the University of Southern Maine, graduating summa cum laude in 2010. He currently lives in Bath with his wife in a tiny circa 1870 house near the banks of the mighty Kennebec River. In his time away from pouring over spreadsheets to find the next magic keyword you'll find Matt riding his bike in the woods, playing hockey (way too early in the morning), or working with his hands on a myriad of projects.
Marc contributes to the ongoing optimization and improvement of Energy Circle’s PPC (pay per click) accounts. Marc is a PPC expert with over four years of direct experience managing Adwords and Bing Ads accounts of all types and sizes. Marc’s family has been in the HVAC and energy performance industry for three generations and he knows the industry well.
Marc moved to Maine to attend the University of Maine at Farmington, where he graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business economics. His love for the outdoors and Maine’s wonderful natural resources kept him here for the long haul. Marc lives in the Portland area with his wife and, when he’s not sifting through PPC data and making optimizations, he can be found surfing, snowboarding and having fun in the outdoors.
Tripti joined Energy Circle LLC team as a Paid Search Strategist, working remotely from San Diego, CA. She has a Bachelor's in Engineering and MBA (Marketing) degree. After her grad school, she worked on multiple projects based on Digital Marketing (PPC, SEO and Google Analytics). She developed her keen interest for building and optimizing Pay Per Click campaigns and showing improved performance metrics.
She has experience working with vast range of businesses, be it E-Commerce or Marketing Agencies. She is a hard worker, quick learner and has always maintained a positive attitude towards her work.
When she is not working, she loves to spend time with her 4 year old daughter and likes to work out or go hiking with her friends.
Cassandra has joined Energy Circle as a Paid Search Strategist. She has a bachelor's degree in Political Science. She has over 10 years experience in client services including banking, insurance and PPC. She developed her PPC knowledge in Boston while working with a large agency that specialized in PPC optimization. While working in Boston she optimized PPC accounts for a variety of industries from all around the world.
When she is not managing PPC, she loves spending time with her partner, her dog Winston and her cat Yeezy. She also enjoys playing fantasy football and rooting for her favorite team, the New England Patriots.
After completing her degree in Colorado at CU Boulder, Cara began her professional career at a local publishing company. This is where Cara discovered her love for all things marketing and client relations. Through various roles in her career, from strategic content management for a travel site to acting as a marketing manager for stand-alone companies, Cara has a well-diversified background in the marketing industry that she is excited to bring to Energy Circle.
In 2018 Cara packed up her life in the Rockies and moved back East to start a new adventure closer to family and her native state of Vermont. She, her beer brewing fiance, and their pup (who makes all big decisions for the family) settled on Portland as the perfect place to put down roots and build into their new home. In her free time, Cara can be found practicing yoga, re-learning how to ski the East, lounging at the beach or out exploring one of the many beautiful trails in Southern Maine with her Vizsla named Tractor.
Abby joined the Energy Circle team in August 2018 as a Digital Marketing Account Manager, working primarily with with solar companies across the US but also in the home performance sector.
For the last ten years, Abby was living and working abroad in London, UK. Coming from both an agency and not-for-profit background, she specializes in strategic and creative communications and marketing with experience across the energy, environment and creative industries sectors (combining her loves of all things green and art). Abby has a master’s degree from the London School of Economics in public policy and applies this policy knowledge to help companies be successful in a policy-driven environment.
Although growing up in Virginia, Abby is a New Englander at heart. She attended the University of Vermont and ultimately made the big move back across the pond to be closer to family in Vermont and New Hampshire as well as to dust off the skis and snowboard for her first real Maine winter.
Outside of the office, you’ll find Abby out on a road trip adventure with her camera, exploring the outdoors. Also, as a recent transplant to Bon Appetit’s 2018 Restaurant City of the Year, she’s mapped out her Portland restaurant foodie wishlist from food trucks to Eventide’s brown butter lobster roll.
